We're working a new web site to be sponsored by
Codyjonsonracing which will cover all forms of racing here in Florida,
www.racingnewsflorida.com watch
for it be be completed by Jan. 1st.
Pictured above Cody's new Modified
Mini car he'll be racing in 2010. Stay tune for updates on this page as we put
the finishing touchs on the Mod Mini getting it ready to race starting Jan
2010. When we got the car home it was right to work as we have less than two
weeks to get it painted and back to Ricks shop. Pictured below Cody working on
the front of the car. As with the Legends car its back to the DA to prep the
car for paint. Cody's picked out a pretty cool paint job he wants it should be
fun once all the sanding is completed. Stay tuned for more updates
soon.
1/3/10 - Hope you all had a great
Christmas and New Years, we certainly did. Despite the cold and rainy weather
over the last week we finally have the car painted. Lots of things we would do
different but it certainly looks better than it did when we started. Now it's
time to take it back up to Rick's shop to apply the numbers and sponsor
lettering on the car. If the weather holds Cody's first practice will be this
Friday at Citrus, he's first race will be sat. 1/9/10 at Citrus Speedway. The
rest of the week we'll finish setting the car up for Citrus so when we get to
the track it's ready to go. We'll post pictures of the car completely finished
with numbers, sponsor lettering later this week.
12/27/09 - Well the car is now in
primier, now we wait 24 hours and once again sand it than it should be ready
for paint.
12/25/09 - Marry Christmas to everyone
and Happy New Years. Work continues on the car shooting for the Jan. 1st
completion date. We have all the sanding done and most of the body work so we
are pretty close to painting it. Pictured below Cody practices the fine art of
fiber glassing and straightening out some bent metal supports; he completely
redid the front grill and it looks almost like new.
Cody will be going
to Daytona Sunday for three days working with OGP at the WKA Manufactures Cup
tuning karts for OPG customers. Stay tune for pictures from that race and
update as to how the race goes. It's great he is working and staying in touch
with all his buddies in the karting world.

12/20/09 - It rained on Friday so we
didn't get to go to Citrus Speedway to turn some laps which was pretty
dissappointing for Cody and everyone involved. On Sunday we went up to Ricks to
pick Cody's car up to bring it home to paint it and generally clean it up
before the race on Jan. 9th at Citrus Speedway. Cody did get to turn some laps
around the race shop so he could get a feel for shifting the car and the
brakes. (Pictures below)
12/15/09 - Well we have Cody's seat in
the car and he likes it so I guess we are good to good. Thanks to Rick Mcquire
for all his help it's nice to deal with folks who do what they say they will do
when they said they do it.
We are headed to Citrus Speedway this Friday
to put the car on the track for the first time. I already like this much better
than the Legends car. We'll see how Cody does on Friday; his first time in a
real race car.
Dec. 5th, 2009 - Below we
went up to the race shop and Rick had Cody's new motor in the car ready to fire
up forthe first time. Below is a short video I shot with my iPhone so you could
hear it. The motor sounds very sweet when you hear it in person, loud as heck
with header on it. The motor is a Ford 2.3 racing motor pushing about 180 horse
power approx. 2300cc, twice as much as the Legends car motor.
The car
has an ABC body on it with an all tube chassis which was at one time a Ford
Pinto sort of. The rear suspension is leaf springs the front is Bilstein small
body race shocks, A Frames. It has a two speed tranny in it with the usual
gauges you see in most racecars. We have a lot to learn about this car but Cody
and myself are very excited and can't wait to get started. I'll try and get
more pictures of the car up next week.
This coming week a new gear will
be put in the rear end getting it ready for Citrus County Speedway. Next
weekend Cody will go up and have his Bulter race seat installed and the car
will be scaled getting it ready for some testing at Citrus County later this
month.
Once we get the car home we'll start doing some body work
getting it ready to paint. The ABC body is a fibderglass middle section with
late model nose and tail.
Stay tuned for more updates and pictures
soon.
