New Smyrna Speedway 2010

 

*3/13/10 --------Well the day of Cody’s first Mini Stock race finally came and we where all pretty excited about making the trip to New Smyrna Speedway for the first race of the year there. Cody has never been to New Smyrna so we didn’t really know what to expect as far as the track goes.

New Smyrna is a very impressive and intimidating track for sure and we can see why a lot of NASCAR teams practice there. Heck of a track to enter in your first race in a real race car sense moving up from Legends cars for sure.

Long story short once again a engine failure put an end to Cody’s day early, trying to run the race team with a limited budget has its draw backs and once again it reared its ugly head. Cody made it out for the first warm up session and learned a lot so much in fact his second warm up session was much improved lap time wise. I really believe had the engine held up Cody would have been in the top three his first race there at New Smyrna.

This time we will be taking the time to do the engine correctly, no more engine failures this session is the goal.This will be the third motor to go in this car and Cody hasn't raced one lap yet, crazy.

The one bright spot of the adventure was Cody’s car was selected as Best Appearing Mini Stock car at New Smyrna for 2010, not exactly the trophy we wanted but at least Cody got some reconnection for all his hard work.
