The Florida Winter Tour Group A Jan. 6th and 7th, 2007 Homestead Karting; was Cody's first time in his new CRG. We picked the new kart up on the Tuesday before the race weekend, put it together at the track at Homestead on Weds. with the help of Advanced Karting. Cody's first time out was in the new kart was Thursday for practice. The CRG is a much different kart than the Margay's he had been racing over the last year and it took a lot of adjusting on his part all weekend. Sat. race Cody qualified 28th out of 49 Rotax JR's keep us out of the last chance qualifying heat but barely. For the prefinal and final they started 40 karts which is a lot of karts on the starting grid no matter where you race. Cody worked his way up to finish 14th. In the final starting 14th he finished we missed the set up by reducing his tire pressure and he finished 17th.

Race #2 which was Sunday started out pretty badly as first thing Cody bent an axle in practice and we had to really bust it to get the karts ready for qualifying. Cody went out and again qualified 28th out of 49 again barely keeping us out of the last chance qualifier. In the prefinal starting 28th he finished 26th. In the final the 40 karts that started and went into the first hard left hand turn proved to much for us and he was collected in a first corner pile up and that was the end of our day.

What a long week it had been and it was good to see Homestead in the rear view mirror pulling out of there. Adapting to the CRG will take some more seat time but once Cody does I believe he'll be a lot faster in Rotax JR in the CRG than he ever was in the Margay.
