Moroso locals race 11/12/06

Moroso was pretty awesome track to race at, like always, we had are ups and downs that weekend. One of the struggles we had was every one racing at Moroso were running MG's and of course I was the only one out of all the guys running Bridgestone's YHC's. There was a lot of very good JR racers there I qualified 9 out of 11 and then ended up 6 in the prefinal and came out 3 in the final over all so it was a pretty good weekend.

Moroso is one of the best kart tracks we have been to, this would be Cody's third time racing there. They always have a great turn out for their local's race series and this time provide to be no different with 70 karts entered in the race. Eleven of which where Rotax JR's which is the class Cody would be racing in.

We went down to practice on Friday as Cody had the day off school. Never even crossed my mind everyone there would be running MG tires, we took YHC's which are a lot slower tire. For the race I bought Cody MG yellow's to give him a fighting chance, our first time on this tire. It took until the final to get the tire pressure and kart set up close enough to where Cody could keep up with the lead pack of karts. So basically we spend all day Friday on YHC's for nothing and had to learn very quickly about the MG tire come race day. Live and learn as they say.

Our old practice motor we ran in the Rotax Eastern Regionals was the only motor we had as the issue's with his new rebuilt motor had not been resolved yet, it wasn't fixed. This motor had at least 60 hours on it way over due for a rebuild but it once again ran flawlessly during practice Friday and the race on Saturday. We ran the Margay 1.4 kart and it performed great as always.

I'm very proud of his third place finish he raced 10 other Rotax Jr's eight of which where very good drivers with fast karts. Next big race is at Homestead Dec. 10th at their locals race which should help us figure out our kart set for the first 2007 Winter Tour race Jan.5 and 6th on that same track. Below are pictures of the Moroso race, Cody is kart #90 the black kart click on image to see a bigger view.
