Cody and I went over to watch
the Daytona 24 Hour race this year below are some pictures we took of the race
cars.
I painted a helmet for Grand Am Ferrari driver Scott Tucker and I
delivered to him at the track so we stayed and watch some of the
race.
It was real cold and raining off and on but it didn't dampen
things to much as it was a great event to be watching in person. We've watched
the Daytona 24 Hour race on TV every year but this was our first time checking
it out in person. I was really surprised at how many folks where there to watch
the race.
The field was most Daytona proto type cars with a lot of
Porsches in the GT class. I'm guessing the top speed on the straight away, back
stretch must have reached 180 mph, coming down the front stretch they had to
slow down to enter a hard left hand turn and than go thru the road course laid
out in the in field of the big track.
We visited the Daytona fan zone
which was pretty cool you get to watch them work on the cars in the garage.
Over the course of the race there was a lot of bumper banging, a lot of torn up
very expensive cars.
We got to see Juan Montoya whose team ended up
winning the Daytona pro type class and AJ Allmendinger which was pretty cool.
Their pictures are included below.
The Daytona 24 hour race is
differently a great race to go watch if you ever get the chance its well worth
it.
